Hi all,

Since 2008 is just a few weeks away, I thought I'd kick start some box office predictions. I haven't seen a thread on this yet so if I'm mistaken and it's already been posted, please delete this thread.

I'll start off with some predictions of some of the "bigger name films." All predictions will be domestic $:

Indiana Jones 4: $500 million
Iron Man: $250 million
Cloverfield: $125 million
The Dark Knight: $195 million
The Incredible Hulk: $110 million
Harry Potter: $315 million
Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian: $250 million
The Mummy 3: $175 million

I guess I'll contribute since I get the feeling you're on the ignore list of about half this board. Is Iron Man really even that popular of a Marvel character? When I was a kid he was somewhere below The Hulk and Silver Surfer and far below the likes of Spider-Man and the X-Men.

My guesses

Indiana Jones - $330 million
Harry Potter - $310 million
Narnia: Prince Caspian - $290 million
The Dark Knight - $275 million
The Incredible Hulk - $200 million
Iron Man - $165 million
The Mummy 3 - $185 million
Cloverfield - $120 million

I think Mike Myers' The Guru and Adam Sandler's barbershop comedy will both topple $100 million comfortably. Of course these predictions can be skewed based on a film's quality. I'm assuming the new Indiana Jones will at least be decent and TDK will be of similar quality to Batman Begins.

Disney should have held off on Pirates 3 until this summer. The field looks considerably more open than last year.

My sincerest apologies. I totally forgot that the thread you pointed out even existed.

I looked at it again and it didn't really seem to have any numbers aside from my posts?

Geez, and I thought the guy who predicted $450M for Indy was way over the top!

I think it's highly unlikely Indy breaks $400M, much less $500M. I see it around $250M maybe. One movie has broken $500M, and Indy doesn't look like the one to be #2...
