Identify this movie?

It's probably not unique to one movie, but there was some comedy--probably in the '80s--with the following dialog:

"Why were you running?"

"Because you were chasing me! Why were you chasing me?"

"Because you were running!"

Any ideas? Thanks.

There is a scene like that in To Live and Die in LA. The dialog may not be exactly that, but pretty close. This dialog is while they are running.

They flutter behind you, your possible pasts.
Some bright-eyed and crazy, some frightened and lost.

Re: Identify this movie?

I haven't seen it, but a friend of mine did and it's possible that I picked it up from him. I'll ask him and find out.

Just check it out. It's a pretty decent cop flick.

It's got Wang Chung, so I might do that.

He said he got it from Barney Miller. I heard it the other night on Dianoga's Murder. So, it's just a common joke, it sounds like.

Oh, oh, oh. I'm getting a vision of Clue: The Movie. Maybe I'm thinking of the line about screaming.

Re: Identify this movie?

I'll have to watch it again and see. I used to watch it every single time I came across it on TV, but I haven't in a while. I need to own it.
