JJ Abrams open to directing sequel and says ST XI will be around 2 hours long.

As far the trailer goes, exterior shot of the Enterprise, bridge shot, and main cast shots too.

Like Sam I thought the trailer for ST VI was excellent but bringing images of the original cast into this one would automatically reduce the potential audience base Paramount is after.

Still a shot of Nimoy as Spock would be lovely.

Also anxious to hear what Giacchino has done for the score.

Woot! I can feel the matter/antimatter chambers warming up already!

Great teaser... and it didn't show ANY footage from the film, I might add.

Here's also the teaser for Star Trek: The Motion Picture narrated by Orson Welles!

JJ responds regarding William Shatner, the movie's length and if he'll do another directorial turn for a sequel.

As some of you probably read on Trekmovie, JJ clarified the William Shatner issue. JJ said in the past that they tried very hard to write him into the movie and Orci and Kurtzman did something that was pretty good. But in the end, it was felt to be contrived and not worthy for a Shatner return or Shatner and the character. So they dropped it,but really wanted him in. This was misinterpreted by the press that they offered Shatner a cameo. And Shatner had publicly stated he knew nothing about the film and had no offers. The truth is Abrams never made the offer to Shatner and they were internally trying to resolve a way to get Shatner in, but the press got that to Shatner. I knew something like this was the case! No ill will on anyone's part.

The movie looks to be about 2 hours long, 75% of the effects are done, the titles are done and the score has been written. So the length could vary as the effects work wraps up. They look to be done by December, on the original schedule. Apparently Abrams doesn't like movies longer then 2 hours, who has the time?

Paramount apparently wants to do a sequel and are trying to get the entire crew and cast signed up. That includes Abrams as director or producer. Abrams is up for it.

The news continues to be positive.

No problem Nelson. You did a great job of summarizing.

Quinto looks good - gonna take awhile to digest the differences between him and Nimoy though. Chris Pine looks very good as Kirk.

The emblem on Spock's insignia is interesting too.

Woah, I thought that image of Quinto as Spock was an illustration! He didn't look real. Sorry Lou, not sure I like the look yet, could be an awkward pose for that picture.

The one below does look very Sylar-esque. Especially the way he's choking that guy.

Entertainment Weekly covers ALWAYS look fake and photoshopped. The shots below the cover are actual stills from the film.
