Re: Star Trek XI- Official now- 12.25.2008 (merged)
TrekMovie has posted the first part of another interview with Leonard Nimoy. Nimoy's continuing enthusiasm for the project really buoy my spirits for the new movie.
The theme of the movie sounds very intriguing as well.

Nimoy reveals a few things in that interview. You could read into it that he's had an opportunity to act in scenes with some of them and or seen the new cast inhabit those roles. Sort of a spoiler.
From his point of view, he feels they do the original characters justice.
What surprised me was his comment that this film is bigger then any past Star Trek film. The story or situations he reveals are large and complex. I guess that means there's a lot of plot going on and multilayers of situations going.
The characters sound true too. We'll see. I was hoping to go to the Vegas gig, but it might not happen. I hope some of the talks end up on youtube.

I`m sure TrekMovie will end up either hosting some video or transcriptions from Vegas.
Vegas is just a short jaunt for you Nelson based on profile. Go for it!

Re: Star Trek XI- Official now- 12.25.2008 (merged)
We'll see. My workload would probably keep me home.
trekmovie does have some new images of the free give away bag with Starfleet delta shield logo on it at Comic Con.
There's some info that Intel is a part of the promotion of the new Star Trek film too. boldlygo.intel.com. But my browser warns me about a questionable certificate for the site, so I have not gone there. Trekmovie has an image of a CGI Enterprise corridor, may have nothing to do with the film since it looks like an NX-01 corridor.

Nelson - what is there to think about? Nimoy & Quinto together!
BTW - did you ever pick up the Jonny Quest DVD set? Curious to hear your thoughts on the show and the music.

Lou-
I forgot about Jonny Quest, had some work focused events that took priority. But it's on the list of things to do! Thanks for the heads-up.

The AICN post reinforces JJ's - 'Make it real.' - mantra.

The scenes in that post have been denied as being real By JJ.
On another front - in the second part of the latest Nimoy interview there is this great piece of news. It is something that those that want no preconceptions about the movie should avoid looking at; that includes the interview too:

Every man is my superior, in that I may learn from him.

Re: Star Trek XI- Official now- 12.25.2008 (merged)
I read the interview Lou. I didn't think that quote was a spoiler. Though I have a sense of where it comes from when I was close to the fringes of a possible spoiler.
To me, the real spoilers are how and why he's in this movie and how his being there is driving the plot.
On the subject of keeping it real, and I didn't read that AICN posting, I saw The Dark Knight this past weekend. I have not seen the Schumacher helmed Batman films in a long time. I happen to play both Batman and Robin and Batman Forever DVD's this weekend for fun whilst working and those lost their way and got really campy in their own way. I have not seen the Keaton Batman in a long time. The point is that the last two films with Clooney and Kilmer in the role were in their own world and not real. I can see how this Star Trek film is going for realism by way the current Batman Returns and The Dark Knight has brought that back to a realistic world with people acting like real people. Additionally, the new Galactica feels that way too. Though I felt TOS wasn't that far out there and was pretty real characters acting like real people, though in a fantastic world.
