Thanks for the link Lou. What the heck was that AICN piece about!
I stopped reading it partway through as it seemed to almost be a spoiler. I suppose he was just speculating. But where he was going sort of sounds like a possible plot for the film.
As for his thoughts about future films, I can't see JJ helming the franchise past 2 or 3 films, but I could be very wrong.

I just saw Transformers this weekend and it was fun and enjoyable, but does raise concerns for Star Trek as it's written by the same writers.
Of course that film was written specifically for that audience and genre and it's world. I have very little knowledge of the Transformers world, but I sense it served them well.
It's good to know that Nimoy is so complimentary of the Trek script and feels they got it right.

No, it really didn't. All of the characters look and act completely differently from their TV counterparts. (The only character who was even recognizable was Optimus Prime.)
If this Star Trek movie will be written by the same people, your concerns are well founded.

He did come close to ruining Star Trek for me, though. When he recently complained about all of the technobabble on modern Trek, I started to notice it more. Now, when they're on the bridge, being attacked by the Jem'Hadar and talking about tachyon pulses and tetryon emissions, I have to roll my eyes.

I'm sorry but, if most of what Quint speculated about turns out to be true, I'll walk out of the theater and just live with the old Trek movies and shows. Pretty much everything Quint mentioned is everything I'd hate to see in a Trek film, guess this one really isn't for the fans. I doubt Quint's thoughts would bring in new fans either so, maybe Trek should just die. We have plenty of old movies and show to keep us occupied. I'm trying to have an open mind about this movie but, every nugget of info seems to push me away. Sorry, this is just the way I feel, Quint's ideas completely turn me off and I'd hate to see that movie made.
Spoiler:
Time Travel again. Most of the time travel stories, while some are really good, seemed like "we are out of ideas and need a ratings boost." Here we go again, if Quint knows what he is talking about. "Trek To The Future"...You've got to be kidding me.
