Are you kidding??? I went ONLY because of him (and his blue eyes) and I'll see any more Bond films that he's in...and at first, I thought he was a bad choice just from pics i had seen....love him now. great choice.

and speaking for the female half- we love him

Well, I've met lots of the female half that loathe him.

I'm sure he will have his female fans, but I'm also sure he won't have the same popularity that Brosnan did with the ladies.

I never got the pierce attraction. I was hoping for Clive Owen but now, I'm very happy with Daniel

I'll have to defer to you on this since it's been many decades since I've read the novel.
But, I thought that torture scene was from the book, "The Spy Who Loved Me".
I was a little disappointed because I keep hoping someone will film that book.

Oh yeah, I loved this movie!

The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) starred Roger Moore. Don't know how true to the book it was!

Another vote from me for Daniel Craig - very sexy!

IIRC, the book version is a short novella that takes place from the POV of a young woman who's bailed out of a dangerous situation by James Bond. It's not at all similar to the film version.

Re: *** Official CASINO ROYALE Discussion Thread

what I want to see is a Jewish James Bond. They might have to change his name (Bondstein.... Moishe Bondstein). I got the idea here: http://www.koolanoo.tv/ (click on “mixing business with pleasure”)

Re: *** Official CASINO ROYALE Discussion Thread

The movie The Spy who Loved Me is more like the Moonraker the novel. Yes SWLM the novel is an isolated thriller of a woman being terrorized in a small out of the way lodge and James Bond appears and saves her from her ordeal.

BTW, I could figure out some of this movie because the 1967 Casino Royale has some of the same elements. Some things I remembered:
Vesper, played by Ursula Andress fronts the money for the card game. She ends up double crossing the Peter Sellers Bond (for different reasons). LeChifre (played by Orsen Welles) is utlimately killed by his superiors. Bond is tortured on a chair with a hole in it, but tortured in a different way.
