The General Screened in Ft. Wayne
My wife and I are going to a screening of The General with Buster Keaton here in Ft. Wayne at our historic Embassy Theater. The Embassy has a Page Organ and Dennis James will be playing it tonight. The Fort Wayne Philharmonic is also providing movie music. I'm pretty excited. My 14 year old and 10 year old are also going with us. I'm not sure they understand what all the excitement is, but I hope they get a better understanding of how good silent films can be. This movie is one of my favorites. I first saw it when I took a film class at Purdue 22 years ago. None of the advertisements talk about the condition of the print, but I'm hoping it is good. Either way, I think the family is in for a treat. If you live near Ft. Wayne, this would be an excellent choice for tonight's entertainment.
