FF1 was pretty graphic in the underground garage scene were Doom goes a little nuts in disposing of the doctor.

I dunno. I watched the films back-to-back and I thought Doom's murder of the General in FF2 (blowing the guy in half) was more graphic than the murder in the first film (just a quick bolt thru the torso and the guy falls over).

I think it just depends who happens to be screening these films at the MPAA on that day.

Yeah, I think it was a combo of Dr. Doom's murder and the Storm sibilings being 'nude' that got the original a PG-13. I think since there was one murder by Dr. Doom, they were able to get away with a PG this time.

Although I think there's a very good chance that your theory that it just depends on who is at the MPAA that day does hold some weight.

I saw FF2 today and I have to say that I liked it a lot. The story was a simple comic book adventure that was fast-paced and exciting to boot. The special effects were pretty good......especially the Silver Surfer who looked amazing. Nice to see one of my favourite heroes done some justice...even though it is only a guest starring role. FF2 was a more satisfactory movie experience than the frustrating Spider-man 3 IMO. I give it a 7.5/10.

I certainly look forward to the DVD......wouldn't surprise me if there is an extended cut either.

Saw this last night and thought it was better than the first one, which doesn't say much for this one, lol.

But for me, it worked mainly because of the Silver Surfer. Re: Galactus, I thought it was an OK way to show him onscreen. I don't know what the reaction would've been if they showed him as the robot looking creature he is in the comics. Although the comment about people accepting the Transformers has a good point.

Yeah but anyone seeing the Transformers knows that they're robots. Not everone seeing Fantastic Four knows about a secondary character that is a world destroying giant in a pointy purple hat.

some of this stuff doesnt make sene to me.

the producers think its fine that we have a guy made of rubber a guy who turns into fire a guy made of rock a woman who turns clear, and a surfer that is silver, etc.

but a galactus that looks the way he does in the comic is too much for people to be able to understand?

besides, though it has been awhile since i have read the book, doesnt galactus eat planets usng a machine that attaches itself to the planet?

It certainly does sound contradictory (and stupid) but that argument makes sense to me. If they used Galactus the way that he looked in the comics, I can not imagine it not looking like something straight out of a movie featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000. Galactus would have looked like a guy in a rubber suit standing in front of a model of the solar system.

I don't know. I think CGI is advanced enough nowadays to do Galactus justice. I don't think he would've looked like a guy in a rubber suit.

Even if they made a decent looking CGI Galactus, I think his scale would be so off (in relation to the planets he's 'standing' near) that it would just look goofy.

Yeah, he lands on the planet and starts setting up all these bizarre machines that are designed to channel the energies of the planet into his body. This process essentially leaves the planet a lifeless husk and then Galactus heads back to his ship and starts off toward his next "meal". Throughout the whole process, he basically behaves in a very cold, businesslike manner, simply ignoring attempts by the local populace to engage him with dialogue or physical force, or if they do succeed in getting his attention, he just wordlessly pulls more weird machines out of his ship and has them start performing "pest control".
