Official lineup is announced on the 20th. Festival begins May 17th. Awards handed out May 28th.

So far, locks include:

The Fountain (Aranofsky)
X-Men 3
Da Vinci Code (opener)
Marie Antoinette (Sofia Coppola)
Over the Hedge (Dreamworks CG)
Volver (Almodovar)
Shortbus (John Cameron Mitchell sex move)
World Trade Center (Oliver Stone) (20-minute preview)

Films assumed to be showing include:
Babel (Inarritu directing, with Brad Pitt, Blanchett, and G.G. Bernal)
Fast Food Nation (Linklater)

Films that might show include:
Fur (Diane Arbus biopic w/ Kidman)
Black Dahlia (de Palma)
The Good German (Soderbergh-Clooney B&W project)
Inland Empire (David Lynch)
Aki Kaurismaki's Lights in the Dusk
The Caiman (Moretti)
The Wind That Shakes the Barley (Loach)

Word on the street is Lynch isn't yet done with his film.

Vincent Cassel is MC.

Wong Kar Wai is jury president.

In less important news, my short film was not selected for this year's competition.

In any case, there will soon be plenty to discuss in the world of film.

Regards,
Nathan

Eek. When did Cannes turn into a Multiplex? DaVinci Code? X-Men 3? Who's on the jury? Carrot Top?

Whoa. An impressive line up of auteurs. If all these see a 2006 release, it's gonna be an exciting year indeed.

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you

I have to agree! I can't wait for "Black Dahlia". I'm a bit of a Elroy nut. A bunch on that list I want to see.
