Funny Money

Henry Perkins (Chevy Chase) a wax fruit designer boards the subway for his typical commute to work with the same briefcase he receives from his wife as a birthday gift every year. His wife Carol (Penelope Anne Miller) is an aspiring artist who is afraid to let anyone see her work and this year would like her husband to break from his boring habits and try something new.

Carol gets a bit more change from her husband then she wished when she arrives home to find Henry on the phone booking two 1-way tickets out of the country. Henry unknowingly switched briefcases on the subway with a Russian mobster who will be a bit pissed when he finds his 5 million dollars has been exchanged for a tuna sandwich and wax banana.

This is where the fun begins as Henry and Carol argue over whether to leave the country. An investigator enters the equation and the on the fly lies begin. Friends arrive for what was supposed to be a birthday dinner and in a short manner of time get pulled into the lies. Another police officer arrives and things just get worse.

This is adult comedy with many sexual innuendoes.

There are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. Things move fast so you need to pay attention.

Chevy looks old but does a good job. I think Penelope does a better job because she really has to act crazy and she looks great doing it.

I will say that this movie seemed a bit low budget/rough compared to big studio movies. The initial scene with the bad guys is memorable poor. The subtitles only used a couple of times when the bad guys talked, seemed ridiculously huge.

I think fans of Chevy Chase and silly three’s company type comedy will be more then happy with this film
