What Movies Do You Blip Through?

I can't stand about half of THE CAINE MUTINY, all the doofy dopey love-story bits. Just unwatchable tripe to me. But I love all the other parts related to the mutiny and all the courtroom scenes, all the stuff with Bogey and Ferrer et al.

So... I blip through all the junk and just watch what I want. But as a film afficianado this makes me feel guilty. How can I do this? And how can I truly love SOME parts of a movie, but just as truly DESPISE the rest? Does this make sense?

Yet, despite my reservations, every time I try to watch the WHOLE film -- I still end up blipping.

Hmm.

He's got the bit between his teeth... all right!

Ya I do the same with porno's. I skip those nasty sex scenes so I can get right to the dialogue.:b

This is going to sound sappy but I was thrilled at the release of Steel Magnolias on DVD so I could chapter skip Julia Roberts death scenes and go right to the scenes after the funeral. It makes it less sad that way.

Personally, I don't believe in skipping over parts of movies. If I'm watching a film, I see the entire film.

There are a number of horror films where I'll skip over the talky parts to get to the good stuff. Zombie has a lot of dead space in the beginning, but if you skip forward to when the zombies start to attack, it moves pretty well. The original Dracula has a lot of slow scenes, so a little judicious self-editing can improve the film.

I've always thought Independence Day was the movie chapter skip was invented for. It's got some great spectacle, but most of the character work is embarrassing, so whenever I try to watch it I skip through it.

"If you write a story about a soldier going AWOL and kidnapping a pregnant woman and finally shooting her in the head, it's called searingly realistic, even though it's never happened in the history of mankind. Whereas if you write about two people falling in love, which happens about a million times a day all over the world, for some reason or another, you're accused of writing something unrealistic and sentimental."

I did this the last time I watched Pulp Fiction. I can't take the taxi cab scene anymore.

I find myself skipping through parts of the Star Wars Prequels a lot.

I suspect people will be blipping through the first 40 minutes of King Kong (2005) when its DVD debuts in a month or so.
