Yeah, I watched it, although I swear there were more commercials than content. The HBO First Look link from above is also really excellent, particularly the part about Mann having Colin go on a simulated drug run without Colin being told it was simulated!

Is it me, or is there not that much interview material for this film? I really enjoy reading interviews with Mann (everything that comes out of his mouth, it sounds like he's been thinking about it for 5 years), but I haven't been able to come across more than the EW and DarkHorizons articles.

My newspaper today has an ad for Miami Vice with a long quote from Poland and none from any other critics. Bad?

It was interesting to watch "Brother's Keeper" in HD and a wide aspect ratio, zoomed-in of course. Althought I haven't seen the DVD transfers, the picture quality even though a tad dark was very good and I wasn't that distracted by the zoomed-in AR.

On my SDTivo the "making of" stuff was letterboxed and Brother's Keeper was in the original AR.

I was reminded just how intense this show was. Good stuff.

I've made plans to see it opening weekend. Can't make opening day because I'll be a single dad that evening. If it weren't for that...it'd be opening day for certain.

I don't think I saw that theater nor Mann Village listed in yesterday's LA Times ad. Best one was Arclight. Some theaters will have a Thursday midnight showing.

Anyone know if there exists different cuts? IMDB had this movie as being 146 minutes but now its 128 minutes.

The print I saw today at the Boston Press screening was 133 minutes.

As for the film itself, I loved it. The story is pretty routine, but Mann and the solid ensemble cast he assembled makes it work and work really well. Farrell and Foxx make for good team, and the relationships the duo has (with Gong Li and Naomie Harris, respectively) provide the film with its heart. And the action scenes are excellent.

If I have one small quibble it would be that I wish Mann had used something other than HD cameras (or at least better ones) to shoot the film. Some of it looks okay, some of it feels like a home movie (albeit an expensive one).

This is my favorite film of the summer so far. Nice to see a tough shoot 'em up made with adults in mind. I knew Mann wouldn't let me down.
