Never saw the series. The clip above from the pilot was interesting. Not at all campy. It felt pretty dark. And despite the fact that I have no clue where the heck they were going or what they were gonna do, it felt like something big was gonna go down. Way too many extended shots of the car though.

Some of my favorite scenes are those. It gives you time to think about the other things that you just saw, and to anticipate what lies ahead. However I can see how that could bother some people.

Considering I have no clue what came before or what lies ahead in that episode, I can see why they bothered me.

This actually comes out on my birthday. Many a lame film has come out on my b-day, maybe this'll be the first cool one.

Just watched an episode. Tonally, this film is tailor made for a 2006 Mann film. I can't wait.

Unexpectedly, I can't wait for this one either. The only thing I've seen of the Miami Vice series is re-runs. I was born in '83, so I don't bring any type of memory of the series.

That said, I'm looking forward to this big time. I really like Manhunter and dug Collateral and it seems like just about anything Jamie Foxx is in these days is gold (except Stealth, and he was at least decent in that). Even Colin Farrell looks well suited for this. There's always at least one movie every year that kind of blindsides me by being way better than I thought it would be, and this could be that movie this year.

I've seen next to nothing of the series, but that is seriously one hell of a clip. The use of the song against the movement of the car is intoxicating.

I didn't know Don Johnson could act.

Great clip makes me want to see the series now.

Apart from Superman Returns and Lady in the Water this was the only other must see film for me this year. I've been gearing up by watching other Michael Mann films, finally saw Heat, just that film alone convinces me that M.V. will be great. Mann is such a good director, it's like you're thrown into the middle of the action and the characters lives, it's definitely different than any other director working today.

I listened to the remake of "In the Air Tonight" again, and it just isn't working for me. I hope it comes across better in the movie.
