Shawn,
Can you give us some info about youre screening without going into spoilers

Sure. The screening was in Boston. It was in 35mm, unfortunately (the IMAX screening is tomorrow night) but it still looked terrific. The 152 minutes zipped by far too fast for my liking. Ledger was as great as everyone has been saying, but he didn't steal the movie away from the rest of the cast the way Nicholson did in Burton's original. Every major character seemed to have equal time, backed by great performances from the entire cast.
The intensity level is pretty high throughout. And while it wasn't bloody, it was pretty violent (keep the kids under 14 at home). Nolan handles the fight scenes much better this time around (translation: he pulled the camera back far enough for us to see what is going on). The chase scene involving the 18-wheeler, the batmobile and a police wagon makes the Batmobile chase from the first film pale in comparison. I can't wait to see that with an opening night audience. They're going to go bezerk!
If there are any downsides, they are small: there isn't much chemistry between Dent and Rachel, and the ending is stretched out just the slightest bit in order to set up the next film. But given how great everything else is, it's easy to overlook any shortcomings.
'The Dark Knight' is a dark, stormy and balls-out awesome crime thriller for adults that demands to be seen on the biggest screen you can find, and it is a movie that demands repeat viewings.
Easily four out of four stars.
