Re: Batman Begins' sequel: The Dark Knight (Merged)
And I just have to wonder, with all the praise this movie has been getting, will anyone start talking Oscar nominations for more than just Heath Ledger and a possible Best Picture nod? I mean, if the movie is so good to get Godfather II comparisons, how can it not even get thought of for a Best Picture nomination.
Has anyone already got their tickets for the IMAX showing on the Friday? A friend of mine tried on Thursday for a 7:00 showing but already sold out. Now I'm wondering if I should just see it first regular then again in IMAX.

Roeper said the film is so good that it definitely warrants Best Picture consideration.

And I was at Wal-Mart. Doesn't get more real world than that...
Friday I went to downtown Toronto to see the Tumbler and BatPod, positioned outside a movie theater (the only Toronto theater that will screen the IMAX version) and as I arrived I had to pass hundreds of baseball fans walking to the game. I saw more New Yorkers (Yankee fans) than fans of the local team (Blue Jays). That was telling...

I just watched the Phillips and Roeper review and they were both effusive in their praise. All of these extremely positive reviews are beginning to worry me. This was by far my most anticipated movie of the summer and all of these great reviews makes me concerned I'm in for a let down. Surely it can't meet these grand expectations, but boy do I hope that it does.

I dunno...these overwhelmingly positive reviews are actually only adding to my anticipation of this film. Just looking at the Rotten Tomatoes tally can be deceptive, because reviews can skew positive while also pointing out substantial flaws. The nearly 80% rating Indiana Jones had was largely built on reviews saying "Well...it could've been a lot worse! 3 stars."
Actually reading through these reviews, though, these critics seem really, genuinely blown away. Guys writing for major magazines are sounding a little like giddy fanboys. That's a VERY good sign to me.

I refuse to read reviews & web chatter about this movie. I didn't even read anything in this thread. I glanced away until I got to the bottom of this page.
Then why am I in here?
Just to encourage all of you to do the same.
Everyone is pumped about this film. Don't let it be ruined by reading web sites & reviews. Reviewers these days do nothing more than rehash & condense the entire plot.

I can't believe I'll be watching this on Friday morning in an IMAX theater at 6:30 a.m.

Me neither, I didn't even read your post, I only picked out this quote by throwing a dart at the screen.
Someone off the street read that line to me.
What thread is this?

Yeah, I swear my friend has seen most of the movie already.
I've avoided trailers, commercials, pics, etc. for all the movies that I was pre-sold on this summer (Indy IV, Iron Man, The Dark Knight, The X-Files, etc.) and it's been great to actually be surprised by the stuff in a movie rather than sit there in the theater and think "Oh, Iron Man still has to fight the *fill in the blank* like I saw in the trailer" or "Oh, this is the clip I saw online where Indiana Jones has to *fill in the blank*" or "Oh, here's where Wall E bangs that girl robot like I read online".
