This new Kirk and Michael Douglas documentary details, maybe, the most successful father/son combination in film history is being shown on HBO starting tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET. The documentary was made by Lee Grant, a very talented actress who worked with Kirk in the 1951 film, "Detective Story" one of the best police films ever made. I'm definitely firing up the Tivo to capture this program. I'm going to sticky this thread for a while. The following is an acticle that discusses the two men and the documentary.

The following link is a schedule detailing the times this documentary will be shown in the future.

Another link which is a brief interview with Lee Grant about how this documentary came to fruition. By the way, Lee Grant was AA nominated for Best Supporting Actress for "Detective Story" before she was blacklisted by Hollywood because her first husband was blacklisted and she refused to testify against him in front of the House Un-American Activities Committee.

I thought it was pretty good. I missed the 30 mins between 9 and 9:30 though.

I first heard of this the other night when the director joined Kirk and Michael on Larry King Live. I ordered HBO right after the interview. I recorded this last night but haven't had time to watch it yet.

Shouldn't this topic be in one of the TV Programming sections?

Not in my opinion, since the program is about individuals in the film industry. By the way, I haven't watched the recorded program yet, hope to do so in the next day or two.

Think this well show up on DVD, either on it's own or an extra?

This sounds to me like something that would fit well on a DVD of the movie "It Runs In The Family", because even though the movie is not biographical or loosely based on their lives, Kirk and Michael play father and son in it.
