How would you have handled the Village (SPOILERS)...

For those who have seen the movie we all know how it ends. And if you don't want to know. Go away.
Spoiler:
Its set in the present day
My question is what would you have done to change the twist....

Real monsters?
Aliens?

My idea would be that the village and its surrounding were abducted years earlier by aliens and they are part of an experiment. Similar to a Outer Limits episodes.

Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.

I would've made the monsters real.

What Dome said. I felt so ripped off when William Hurt revealed that they weren't even real!

I would also have had Adrian Brody's charactor killed in the opening frames of the film for being so irritating.

I think I would also have had (if I allowed him to live that is) Adrian Brody stab the blind girl and had Lucious go through the woods and into town for the medicine.

Terrible, terrible film.
