Re: Die Hard 4 in the works.
Interesting read, although proceed with caution while reading it as it gives away large chunks of the plot.

Oops, didn't read that part. I just read the quote from Willis.
Thank God Charles Bronson isn't around to see what's happened to the action genre.

Re: Die Hard 4 in the works.
Yikes. Never a good sign when the star disses the movie before it opens.
Looking like a disappointing summer movie season.

Re: Die Hard 4 in the works.
Well, I really hope this PG-13 crap with LFoDH backfires in a big way with fans of the series not bothering to see it. Sadly I doubt this will be the case since it seems people will go see any well marketed PG-13 film.

Re: Die Hard 4 in the works.
This PG-13 crap is really getting me down on the whole thing needless to say, I was channel surfing this morning and came across DHWAV on Encore and was just listening to the dialogue, it was filled with F bombs and there was lots of violence and blood...THAT'S a DH film!

Re: Die Hard 4 in the works.
Folks, check out the article link below. They look at the upcoming summer movies, and mention LFoDH, mainly why it may not be a big hit. The main reason? It's R-rating.

Re: Die Hard 4 in the works.
Unfortunately, that article is dated May 1 and that's before the PG-13 rating story came out.

I think this is going to be one of the rare times that a PG-13 rating will hurt the movie's profitability. I can't imagine most people not thinking "Die Hard is PG-13? What the fuck is that?" I don't think that it's going to bomb but I think it would do better if they just release it as it was made.
[RANT]I can understand that a studio wants a movie to be PG-13 to help the box office but in this case, they should've known that they were putting a hundred million (or whatever it cost) into an R rated movie and if they weren't sure that they could get their money back from an R rated movie, they shouldn't have put that much into it. If they're making Pirate Of The Carribean or Spider-Man, you know you're making a movie that's PG-13 but if you're making Die Hard, you're making an R rated movie with cursing and killing just like the other movies in the series.[/RANT]

Re: Die Hard 4 in the works.
Meh, old or wrong information it looks like to me.
BTW, I believe, assumimg by some miracle we do get an R, that they're mistaken about this movie maybe not doing well, the DH films have a huge following now and those that loved then growing up still love them now and will flock to theaters in droves. I don't know, maybe i'm just a hopeless optimist with that but i've alway tried to be a glass is half full kind of guy.

Re: Die Hard 4 in the works.
I really don't understand Hollywood and who decides what film should have which rating. Didn't they ADD some language and violence to "Snakes on a Plane" in order to GET an "R" rating? Are they now blaming the "R" for the fact that it bombed? And check the grosses for "300," "The Passion," and the "Matrix" films. Heck, look at the first three "Die Hard" films. They're all successful "R" rated films.
No "R", no sale!

Re: Die Hard 4 in the works.
If this PG-13 mess is true, I'll just wait for the DVD. Die Hard films are supposed to be rough and violent, but I guess Fox execs haven't noticed. They have a knack for mishandling their franchises, specifically evidenced by Alien Vs. Predator. Of course, no R rating could have helped that movie.

My Blu-ray collection so far: Casino Royale, The Fifth Element, 300, Unforgiven, T2, The Descent, The Road Warrior, The Untouchables, Purple Rain, Deliverance

Re: Die Hard 4 in the works.
FOX can't make up their minds on anything, if LFoDH does well they'll say that it's because they made the right call and it succeeded because of it's PG-13 rating, but if it fails they'll say that it failed because they alienated their core fans by not making it R rated.
Like I said before, now that i'm a little calmer, i'm very insulted that we'll have to wait for the DVD to see the film in it's unrated or R rated form, DH films are best seen at the theater and it angers the living hell out of me that we're being given a watered down DH film in theaters just to appease the teen crowd.
Man, it makes my blood boil if I spend too much time thinking about it.
