Re: Die Hard 4 in the works.

I thought the trailer didn't look too much like Die Hard either, but as others have pointed out, it's a very thin teaser.

As for the evolution of McClain(sp?), he actually was fairly smooth at times in the first couple films until things really got rough, but he always started out with some polish.

I think people forget that in the third film, he's two steps, no, one step from being a full-fledged alcoholic and has a really bad hangover from start to finish.

If he quit drinking and got back in shape after the events of the third film, we'd see a different character than the one in Die Hard With a Vengeance...which was an awesome entry in the series BTW. And he would show up a young rookie compared to someone like Zeus, who constantly challenged him.

"McClane is a toilet bug."

Good point about him pulling himself together after the events in DHWAV, he did look healthy in the teaser for this. I'm also wondering what the status is between him and Holly, afterall he was going to give her a call at the end of DHWAV.

I must say, though, I don't much like her after dumping him even though he went through hell and back to save her on TWO occasions! Oh well, the heart will do what the heart will do I guess.

It would be cool if Reginald VelJohnson could turn in a cameo as Al at some point.

That may be plausible but my question is whether a cleaned up, less rough and tumble John McClane is as interesting of a character? My initial instict is "no" but I guess we'll see with the movie brings.

What was cool was that Al did make an extended cameo in Die Hard 2: Die Harder.
So, let me get this straight... In the Die Hard, McClane was a New York City cop in L.A. In Die Hard 2, he's a cop from L.A. in Washington D.C. and the surrounding area. In Die Hard: With a Vengeance, he's an NYC cop again in NYC and the surrounding areas. Geez, he must've gotten transferred around quite a bit.
I wonder if he gets reinstated as a cop with the ranking he retired at in between With a Vengeance and Live Free or Die Hard. Since it's been quite a gap of time between said films, I take it they're going to touch upon some details which happened between the two films.

What's so difficult about that?
He's an NYC cop.
He moves to LA to get back together with his wife (incidentally, I can't remember - why were they in Washington DC for Christmas that year?).
He hates LA, so when he and Holly do break up, he moves back home to NYC.

And since we're talking about a space of about 8 years, that doesn't seem like too much moving.

Because they were going to spend Christmas with her parents, it was her mom's car that got towed away at the opening.

Just for fun, check this out, guys, it's a 6" John McClane figure that I modified myself, I added the wound on his arm from where Karl shot him, darkened the blood on his shirt, painted his hair black (it was brown before), I added the little cut above his left eye, added the walkie talkie on his belt, tore off a small strip of an old t-shirt and wrapped it around his foot and painted it and finally, the thing i'm most proud of, I made the cigarette out of the shaft of a thumb tack and stuck it in his kisser.

Cool custom. I need to pick up that figure still. It's been sitting in my local store for a long time now.
