Dear lord, I hope that's true. Even if he doesn't play Frank Black, I think it's cool that he may be in it at all.

Re: Second X-Files Movie in 2006 (Now Maybe 2008?)
With Chris Carter's tendency to reuse actors in different roles -- even in the same series -- I wouldn't be surprised if Henriksen is a different character. Most famously, Terry O'Quinn dies in the movie, comes back as a super soldier in season 8, played Peter Watts on "Millenium" (which was established as being the same universe as X-Files). Jason Beghe also had a small role in the movie although he played a different character that died in season one.
Chris Carter, God bless him, is loyal to his troupe of actors.
"If you write a story about a soldier going AWOL and kidnapping a pregnant woman and finally shooting her in the head, it's called searingly realistic, even though it's never happened in the history of mankind. Whereas if you write about two people falling in love, which happens about a million times a day all over the world, for some reason or another, you're accused of writing something unrealistic and sentimental."

He was also a cop in the S2 episode 'Aubrey'.

Re: Second X-Files Movie in 2006 (Now Maybe 2008?)
it's nice to be an xphile again. been a while (hell, it was hard after the movie).
i attribute a lot of the shows ultimate downfall to the LA move, so I'm REALLY happy they're shooting the whole thing in Vancouver. I remember an interview with Duchvony from a while back saying that when they do do a sequel it would be coming back to BC. So its nice they kept that in mind.
glad it's also not following the mythology. as much as I actually started enjoying the Season 9, in a X Files: The Next Generation type way, it's nice to know Mulder and Scully will be solving mysteries not pertaining to super soldiers or whatever the hell else Carter and Duchovny made up by the end.
The production name for the film is DONE ONE, btw. Which I think is hilarious.
Anyways, Im excited.

My sentiments exactly. Doggett was a great character, and it's not his fault the writing fell in the toilet in S9.
It would be nice at least to give him an appearance in the new film, and Terry O'Quinn as well.

Re: Second X-Files Movie in 2006 (Now Maybe 2008?)
It's definitely the right time to bring back The X-Files. I watched the show from the pilot until the middle of season 7--I just couldn't enjoy the convoluted mythology episodes anymore. But years after the final episode would have people looking back with fondness or at least some semblance of reassessment.
90s nostalgia has a way of pulling me back. No sooner had Fox announced the second X-Files movie, but HMV had all nine seasons on sale for $20 CAD. I bought all of them and the movie and will now count down until the new movie premieres next week (I'll also have to find out where they're filming in my city).
Now all I need is a Kurt Cobain biopic and my 90s nostalgia is complete!

Some intriguing cast members have signed on. Xzibit and Amanda Peet will play FBI agents and Billy Connolly has been cast in an unknown role. They're keeping it all secret to protect the storyline.

Pictures from the first day of shooting. Seeing these cements the whole affair and makes it that much more excitng.

Re: Second X-Files Movie in 2006 (Now Maybe 2008?)
I'm filled with nostalgia seeing David Duchovny and Chris Carter together.
And Xzibit certainly looks the part and since he's in Oliver Stone's new movie, I'm assuming he's got some acting chops.

Maybe they're trying to do something comedic in the Jose Chung/Clyde Bruckman vein.
Since some of the most beloved stand alone episodes are the comedic ones (Small Potatoes is another great one), it would make sense that they might try to emulate that in a movie.

Re: Second X-Files Movie in 2006 (Now Maybe 2008?)
It's far from certain but the fact that Mulder is dressed more casually (if DD is even shooting during these scenes and not just hanging around onset) could indicate that this is indeed set after "The Truth" with Mulder & Scully no longer in the FBI.
I know that Xfilesnews.com FAQ says Spotnitz confirmed that it would be set after the | |
