Give Me Good 80's Horror Recommendations

I've been on an 80's horror binge as of late. Need some recommendations. I'm a bit of a gore hound but I'm a fan of more atmospheric horror as well. More obscure titles are preferred.
Thanks in advance.

Ahhh.. the 80's were rife with horror flicks.. they don't make 'em like that any more. These lists take me back.

All of the above are good, but, I think Hellraiser was one of my favorites. As was Re-animator. And you can't go wrong with Johnny Depp getting disemboweled in Nightmare on Elm Street.

Also, I enjoyed The Gate. Had some pretty good effects for the day.

And for balls-out cheesy heavy metal horror: Trick or Treat

I don't recall it having all that much gore, but one I had a lot of fun with was April Fool's Day.

My DVD Collection - very outdated

No one mentioned The Shining or Poltergeist, two definitive 80s horror films, yet?

For "atmosphere" try an obscure little film:

The Sender (Paramount, 1982)

C.H.U.D.
Any horror movie that gets recognition in THE SIMPSONS more than once has to be good!
Actually, I want to pick this one up for the commentary, heard it was good.

And you believe, at heart, everyone's a killer...

i absolutely loved this movie. it's about a bunch of people who go to a church basement and essentailly open the gate to hell. plus a cameo by alice cooper? how much better can you get!
