I know I've mentioned on thread after thread about how bad the theaters in my area are but tonight just pissed me off no end. So I wrote this and sent it off to Loews. Let's see what they say.

Quote:
Hello again,

Attended 8:30pm show of Team America in theater 7 today [in Middletown, NY]. The theater had sound coming from only the center front speakers and one of those speakers is damaged as the distortion levels were very high. Midway through the film the house lights came up and I had to get up and go find an employee to ask them to be lowered. The first chair I sat in was broken. The second one was also broken.

Theater 7's surround sound system appears to have been out since 2001 when I saw, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in the same theater and had to complain to the manager on duty that the sound system did not work properly.

Between this event and my dismal visit to see Ladder 49 two weeks ago where the picture was misframed and the screen sagged in the center, I have to wonder if Loews engages in any sort of quality control monitoring. Three years of disrepair for a malfunctioning Dolby surround system is inexcusable in a first-run theater. If you care about proper theatrical presentation of your films then I urge you to investigate these issues.

Thank you.

Jason Ashley

Whoa, I thought my local Regal was bad. At least they do a passable job about 1 in 5 times, when they aren't misframing or playing dialogue in the rear channels. Keep fighting the fight.

I really like your signature by the way, it's much better than what seems to be the more common translation.

dialogue in the rear channels.

They did that on portions of Ladder 49 but I wasn't sure if that was an artistic choice or just mispresentation.
