Quote:
Fay Wray, Beauty to Kong's Beast, Dies at 96
By THE NEW YORK TIMES
Published: August 9, 2004
Fay Wray, an actress who appeared in about 100 movies but whose fame is inextricably linked with the hours she spent struggling helplessly and screaming in the eight-foot-hand of King Kong, died on Sunday night at her apartment on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. She was 96.

Very sad news. Truly a legendary actress. Rumor had it that she was offered a cameo in the upcoming remake.

RIP, Ms. Wray.
The first actress I was ever in love with, at the tender age of 12...

Sad news.
It's too bad she didn't get the chance to cameo in the remake, but I expect the film will be dedicated to her.

Sad, sad news. One of the last living legends from the early days of film. May she rest in peace.
The full article makes it clear that she embraced the iconic status of her role in King Kong. That's not a quality you see much these days, with so many actors resenting their most popular work as time goes by.

Truly sad news. I hope that Warner was able to involve her in the eventual DVD for King Kong.

She lived a long life but it's too bad she didn't live just a few years more.

Aw, rats. She was great in Kong, and even in her eighties was a fun, upbeat interview whenever someone did a story on that movie.

When I see photos, or film, of most early actresses, I'm mystified as to why they were considered attractive. There was no mystery with Faye, she was hot. And even in photos from her 9th decade, I could still see the beauty.
I'll miss that girl.
