Say it ain't so, Scott! Say it ain't so!

This message ends with Todd.

Hey kid you got no class. Hit the bums, kid. Run like the devil. Get a tin can and take up mooching. Knock on back doors for a nickel.
Tell them your story. Make \'em weep. You could have been a meat-eater, kid. But you didn\'t listen to me when I laid it down.
Stay off the tracks. Forget it. Its a bum\'s world for a bum. You\'ll never be Emperor of the North Pole, kid. You had the juice, kid, but not the heart and they go together.
You\'re all gas and no feel, and nobody can teach you that, not even A-No.1. So stay off the train, she\'ll throw you under for sure. Remember me for that. So long, kid. -A-No.1

But it stars Dame Judi. How can it be bad?

I went into pitch black with very low expectations, did not even really know much about the movie. I ended up enjoying it. Part of the reason was because Riddick was mysterious and not necessarily the central attention of the movie.

I think this one is trying to capitalize off the first unforseen success and it's just not going to work.

Hey, she's gotta eat.

Still, Twohy has earned a heck of a lot of benefit of the doubt from me. He's one of the best science-fiction directors out there.

Jay's Movie Blog - A movie-viewing diary.
Transplanted Life: Sci-fi soap opera about a man placed in a new body, updated two or three times a week.
Trading Post Inn - Another gender-bending soap, with different collaborators writing different points of view.

"What? Since when was this an energy ball movie?" - Overheard during a screening of Takashi Miike's Dead Or Alive
"What the hell religion are you people?" - Overheard during the Captain Marvel serial at SF/29
"If I feel even one bullet hit me, I will rip your lungs out through your nostrils!" - Ron Silver as himself, "Heat Vision And Jack"

Yeah, saw it last night and I have to agree with Steve, it sucks pretty hard. Sitting in the theater I could even guess what line Riddick was going to say next.

Riddick: "There's only one way out of here...."

Me: "My way."

Riddick: "...My way."

Me: *Covers eyes and shakes head with disbelief*

Here's a very small spoiler (if you have half a brain, you'll figure this one out less than 20 min into this crap train)
Spoiler:
When you find out that these people keep what they kill, you can basically guess the rest of the movie. And you would be right.

1/2 out of

While it isn't the smartest film on the planet, this movie doesn't deserve that. I thought it was a lot of fun, and very much worth seeing. It is a solid, B level, science fiction movie. I'll be seeing it again at some point.

It is far better than Van Helsing, that's for sure. Now there's a film that should be compared to Battlefied Earth.

Jason

Funny you say that Scott, because I was thinking the exact same thing when watching the trailers. I'll still go see it because I dig Sci-Fi and love going to the movies.
