Oh well. I has to be better than the other Punisher Movie.
|
does it?
this brings to mind the hellboy story called "The Vårcolac", where hellboy is confronted by a colossal vampire who, we are told, hates hellboy not because of what he is, but because of what he could be, but isn't.
until a while ago, i had no interest in the punisher. at all. but since garth ennis has been writing the series with his characteristic and inimitable genius, it's one of my favorites.
which is to say, before ennis, i had no real concept of what the punisher could be as a story. and now i do. which means it's certainly conceivable to me that the new punisher movie could be
much worse than the original, since it's failure can be all the more catastrophic given the available benchmark of perfection in ennis' version of the character, a benchmark not availbale to the makers of the first movie.
in other words, i may very well detest this movie not for what it is, but for what it could have been, but isn't.
