Just rented this over the weekend. Truly as horrible as everyone seems to think. Bad cgi. Actors walking on a treadmill (or "moonwalking" brilliantly) in front of bad green screen effects. Bad dialog. Bad acting (with Ben Kingsley being the possible exception).

Logic? What logic? The one grossly obvious lack of logic, in my opinion (and perhaps this was also a lapse in the original story)was:

Spoiler:
If after finding out that the Bio-filter has been disengaged, allowing the transport of a piece of the past into the present- thereby causing the rift in time, why not simply go back a few days and turn the Bio-filter back on? Problem solved, no?

Very disappointing as I was looking forward to seeing this. Very promising premise that unfortunately did not deliver. To add insult to injury, I made the mistake of watching "Flightplan" the next night. Just wasn't my weekend for watching movies...

Re: A Sound Of Thunder (2004)

Finally watched it last night. I also have a few questions.

-We see that the whole thing was caused by a butterfly...fine. My problem is this. We know that a few minutes after the buttfly floats by. A volcano erupts and a pyroclastic wall destroys the entire area. So unless that butterfly can fly over 100mph it will be incinerated anyways.

-Do they ever explain what the heck that walkway they are on is??

-In the last wave we see humans transformed into some kind of salamander. Wouldn't all of the buildings and tech be gone by then??

-Finally, the doc was trying to go back to get DNA to bring animals back and he couldn't take samples...Why? I understand if you took the animal. But, what harm would it be to get a few strands of hair or even some blood from an animal..especially if it just died?

Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.

Re: A Sound Of Thunder (2004)

I agree with Ebert that the film so wanted to be good and it actually has a confidence behinds it that shows.....but the horrible scripting and sub-par FX (aside from the Lizard-Apes....I imagine that they were created before the company went bankrupt) just makes this seem like a substandard Sci-Fi Channel "film" that should be starring Bruce Campbell rather than Ben Kingsley...come to think of it if Bruce had been in this it might have made it worth while!
