Looks like the choice has been made.

Click me to see the new James Bond.

Personally I think he's a great choice.

As do I. I thought he was better than Pitt in Troy. Can't wait to see him in Bond.

I just saw that too Scott. Bana was great in Troy. About the only thing really great in that movie. Not sure about Bond though. Although for me, the Bond series has been steadily getting worse so maybe this can help.

Brosnan was great in Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and The World Is Not Enough and will be missed.

Given the choices, the only one I prefer over Bana is Clive Owen. I've been impressed by Bana in everything I've seen him in.

Directed by Tarantino?

Of course not. Eon would never take that type of chance.

And Eric Bana? The fuck? Anyone other then Hugh Jackman would be just wrong to me.

Is Bana confirmed?

I don't know...I'd like to see Brosnan get another shot at the role before anyone else is brought on. He's just Bond for this generation. It'll be difficult to deal with a new actor in the role after Brosnan's 9 year outing.

Anyway, Bana's a good choice for the role. I think he's an excellent actor and he's been great in everything I've seen him in. He still feels a little odd in the part though. I guess I just can't picture any other modern actor in the role.

It's good casting if true, but...
Quote:
LONDON (AFP) - Australian actor Eric Bana, star of films including "The Hulk" and "Troy", is the surprise new choice to take over as James Bond, a report said.

The beefy 35-year-old had beaten off competition from British actors such as Jude Law and Ewan McGregor to take over the role of the super-spy in the long-running series of films, the News of the World said.
It comes from the News of the World - as they describe it in the article, a Sunday tabloid title. It's hardly Variety.

Even if it's true, some elements in the article worry:

Quote:
"Eric is the guy they want but he has a reputation for being demanding. They want to modernize Bond and turn him into a youthful, suave and modern hero to compete with the likes of Spiderman and Keanu (Reeves) in the Matrix," the source said.

Bond does bullet time?

Eric Bana is the new James Bond?

Take this with a huge grain of salt -- this is the vaguest "news" story I've read in a while:

Eric Bana Reported To Be The Next James Bond

Aug 02, 2004

Aussie movie star Eric Bana may be the next James Bond, according to a British newspaper report.

Bana, 35, recently appeared in big Hollywood productions, including, Black Hawk Down, The Hulk and most recently the epic Troy.

The British report said Bana was negotiating with producers to star in the 21st Bond movie, scheduled to begin shooting later this year.

Competition for the title of "007" included, British actors such as Jude Law and Ewan McGregor.

Pierce Brosnan starred in four Bond films before stepping down due to a reported conflict with producers.

No kidding, Ernest. I just came here from IMDB.com and it still sounds like "Firm possibility of a definite maybe."

This news report is originally from a london tabloid, who won't quote a source but claim they got it from an 'insider'.
