Before Sunset, sequel to Before Sunrise...
I dont know if there are any fans out there of the original but heres some promising news for those who are.
Before Sunset' Sequel to Romance
BERLIN (AP) - Film sequels tend to follow quickly on the heels of box-office boons, but co-star Julie Delpy said Tuesday that Richard Linklater's "Before Sunset" was motivated by a feeling that "something was missing."
The movie - a follow-up to Linklater's critically acclaimed 1995 romance "Before Sunrise" - features Delpy and Ethan Hawke revisiting their roles as Celine and Jesse, two young people who meet on a train and spend a night together discussing life and love. Their 14-hour relationship ends at a Vienna train station, with the pair vowing to meet each other again in six months.
Hawke, Delpy and Linklater - who share screenwriting credits - all said as the sequel premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival that they'd been looking for a way to continue the story.
"I felt something was missing until I did this film," Delpy said. "Somehow I felt I needed to say more."
The sequel picks up nine years later in Paris, where Celine lives and Jesse is giving a reading of the book he wrote about their one evening together. This time under the time constraints of a departing plane, the two once more delve into intimate conversation.
"It has a weird connotation when you say sequel. It usually means, you know, economic interest," Linklater told. "This obviously isn't for that - we're here for personal reasons."
"There's not many sequels to movies that made less money than ours," Hawke added.
Set for a summer release in the United States, "Before Sunset" is one of 23 films competing for the Berlin festival's top prize - the Golden Bear. Its predecessor earned Linklater a Silver Bear for best director in Berlin.

I didn't even know a sequel was in the works let alone completed and ready for distribution. It has probably been about 6 or 7 years since I saw it but I recall liking the film. I'm a fan of the actors and the director so i'll rent it again and make sure I go out and see the sequel.

I am wondering why Kim Krizan (the co-screenwriter of the first one) wasn't involved in this...

Just got to see this flick at SXSW and I really dug it a lot. It bookends the first film quite well, and it's essentially a testament to the fine art of screenwriting: you CAN have a movie that consists of two people jabbering for 80 straight minutes...if what they're saying is funny or engaging or insightful.
And this movie's just that. The ending is just fantastic!
*These opinions come from someone who really liked Before Sunrise as well. Your mileage may vary, of course.

I'm a big big fan of Before Sunrise, quite possibly one of my all time favourite films. When I first heard of this sequel, I was really disappointed - I didn't want to know what happened to them, I wanted it left as it is.
The more I've read about the project, the more keen I am on it. It really sounds faithful to the spirit of the first film and taking a risk with the structure/setup - realtime, baby. Really looking forward to it now.
high resolution ipod featuring dlp hd programming is the best, almost as good as playstation 2 with wega windows media on a super cd! ps2 and tivo do dolby tv with broadband hdtv!

Did you see Linklater's Tape, Scott? Fits the description perfectly.

I have seen Tape, Nick. I thought it was VERY good.
Didn't much care for Waking Life tho.
Still, gotta respect a filmmaker who'll do teeny tiny 'personal' projects in between the big blockbusters.
Linklater and Soderbergh (and a few others) deserve a lot of respect for not being ground down by the Hollywood Movie Machine.
