I caught this film on IFC this afternoon. I had seen it when it had first come out on video. At the time I did not appreciate film the way I do now and the nuances of this great film were lost on me. Upon second viewing I discovered that I love this film for many of the same reasons I love Lone Star.
What I loved so much about Lone Star is how Sayles weaves the story lines together. One Character’s actions affect many others without them being aware of it, much like it happens in the real world. Also the issues that are explored in these films of class and racism are things that affect each and every one of us. Sayles deserves the praise that he gets and I will be checking out more of his films in the future.
