Since you mention it. Steve. I rented Elizabeth last night. That movie is much more of a mess than I remember. Always like watching Cate, though. Her choice of movies seems to be a little shaky.

I agree about Elizabeth but I don't know if I could really fault her for her choices. I can't think of any other actresses out there that so consistently find strong and unusual roles the way Blanchett does, and that's a really big deal considering what actresses usually get stuck with even if the whole movie is good

You're right, Andy. Blanchett does have a knack for picking good roles. I just wish the movies she was in were a little better.

I really like Heaven, though.

I stated earlier that I loved the Donna Karan ads with Blanchett. Awesome.

Just read she is expecting child #2 as well. Good for her.

EDIT: I knew Steve was going to comment any second.

Re: The Cate Blanchett Appreciation Thread

Did a search for Charlotte Gray and there wasn't one...but in seeing that the film only made about $670,000 TOTAL! I guess it shouldn't be a surprise.

Just finished watching Charlotte Gray. Arrived from Blockbuster online....

I knew it got lukewarm reviews saying good performances in a not so good screenplay. I kind of agree but Cate is really good in this. But as this thread points out, Cate Blanchett is good at EVERYTHING.

Charlotte Gray is certainly worth a rental if you haven't seen it and I think that is a rather large group

The score is pretty but also reminded me a bit of William's Schindler's List score.

Pretty good movie with an incredible actress.

7/10

Re: The Cate Blanchett Appreciation Thread

I watched The Aviator last night and thought she did a remarkable job as Katherine Hepburn (and that her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress was well deserved).

Whenever I hear the name Cate Blanchett (however they decide to pronounce it: Blanchett or, as I prefer, Blanchett) being cast in a film, I always think: wow, a good movie is coming out. This is even before I know what the movie is about. That's how good her reputation is with me.

Well said Mike & I agree. She has such a unique presence about her...and she's pretty in that way too. Wonderful actress...

Tim, you sure resurrected an ancient thread here.

Charlotte Gray sure seemed to have everything going for it. Exce
