Since you mention it. Steve. I rented Elizabeth last night. That movie is much more of a mess than I remember. Always like watching Cate, though. Her choice of movies seems to be a little shaky.

I agree about Elizabeth but I don't know if I could really fault her for her choices. I can't think of any other actresses out there that so consistently find strong and unusual roles the way Blanchett does, and that's a really big deal considering what actresses usually get stuck with even if the whole movie is good

You're right, Andy. Blanchett does have a knack for picking good roles. I just wish the movies she was in were a little better.
I really like Heaven, though.

I stated earlier that I loved the Donna Karan ads with Blanchett. Awesome.
Just read she is expecting child #2 as well. Good for her.
EDIT: I knew Steve was going to comment any second.

Re: The Cate Blanchett Appreciation Thread
I watched The Aviator last night and thought she did a remarkable job as Katherine Hepburn (and that her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress was well deserved).
Whenever I hear the name Cate Blanchett (however they decide to pronounce it: Blanchett or, as I prefer, Blanchett) being cast in a film, I always think: wow, a good movie is coming out. This is even before I know what the movie is about. That's how good her reputation is with me.

Re: The Cate Blanchett Appreciation Thread
Well said Mike & I agree. She has such a unique presence about her...and she's pretty in that way too. Wonderful actress...

Re: The Cate Blanchett Appreciation Thread
Tim, you sure resurrected an ancient thread here.
Charlotte Gray sure seemed to have everything going for it. Exce | |
