Good Irish Movies?

My wife is Irish-American, and loves everything "irish".

She is asking for some DVD/Tapes of Irish films for Chrismas, and I am looking for suggestions.

She likes films that have alot of Irish culture, geography, accents, history, etc.

She has:
Michael Collins.
Angelas Ashes
Quiet Man
Matchmaker (terrible movie, but Excellent scenery).
Waking Ned Divine.

Any suggestions?

'Into the West' is a pretty good movie, a charming fantasy about two kids from the northside of Dublin and their relationship with a magical white horse.
It's been one of my favourite movies since I first saw it in the early 90s. Plenty of great scenery in the second half.

I've seen the Secret of Roan Inish, and its pretty good. I think I'll put it on the list.

The commitments is "dublin irish", so not really irish, as my wife would say.

Shouldn't the topic header be 'Good Oirish Movies?'.

Arggh begorrah! Oi'd recommend that classic Tom Cruise - Nicole Kidman epic
Far and Away one of those good bad films [or should that be bad good films?],
Tom Cruise's fookin' oirish accent was a corker! Aye!

For oirish accents you canna beat Colin 'feckin' Farrell, well he actually is Irish!

The Boondock Saints?

He obviously misinterpreted what it means to "be bullish."

Not a lot of history, but lotsa accents: The Crying Game. However, unless this has been re-released, it's the worse fucking DVD I have ever seen.

I just read up on: Odd man out and I see a dark Stranger on IMDB.

They sound like great movies, though probobly not my wifes type. I might just get them for myself. How is the tranfer?

The transfers on ISADS and OMO are perfectly acceptable, all things considered. Definitely worth picking up.

Millers Crossing is kinda Irish themed.
