According to www.cinescape.com Both Christopher Walken and Michael Keaton are supposedly being looked at for the role of Willy Wonka.

Here is the direct link to the article:

Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.

There's only one Willy Wonka: Gene Wilder.

This message ends with Todd.

Hey kid you got no class. Hit the bums, kid. Run like the devil. Get a tin can and take up mooching. Knock on back doors for a nickel.
Tell them your story. Make \'em weep. You could have been a meat-eater, kid. But you didn\'t listen to me when I laid it down.
Stay off the tracks. Forget it. Its a bum\'s world for a bum. You\'ll never be Emperor of the North Pole, kid. You had the juice, kid, but not the heart and they go together.
You\'re all gas and no feel, and nobody can teach you that, not even A-No.1. So stay off the train, she\'ll throw you under for sure. Remember me for that. So long, kid. -A-No.1

Christopher Walken would be a great choice.. The guy seems like such a weirdo.

I don't know about Michael Keaten though. Doesn't really seem right.

Are they going to call this remake Willy Wonka or go back to the original title of the book, "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory"? Also, I don't believe the new film will be a musical.

Hmmmm...I don't know about that...I think a musical could/would work fine. Particularly if you cast Walken who is a good dancer and singer. AND he's weird.

Keaton would be a good choice for a non-musical. Of course, so would Walken.

My, Oh My....

Can't they just leave well enough alone?

I suppose they simply couldn't pass up an opportunity to apply CGI to yet another film - make it, you know...BETTER.

Heaven forbid a new generation of children have to sit through that much older, "ancient" movie. They can throw a 20 million dollar marketing campaign at it - give away Wonka dolls in Happy Meals three months before the movie's even released.

I can't wait...

Seriously, if Walken is chosen, I think he'd do a fine job. The man can really dance. Check out a film called PENNIES FROM HEAVEN (1981).

Roald Dahl , the writer of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, was not happy with Willy Wonka the film. The book has Charlie as the main character, the film Willy Wonka. I suspect the new version, sans music?, will adhere more to the book.

Gene Wilder will always be the one and only Willy Wonka but I think Johnny Depp should get the gig if they do a remake, make it an even 4th Burton film for him.

I think Johnny Depp or Martin Short should get it.

Lo, there do I see my mother, and my sisters, and my brothers, Lo, there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning, Lo, they do call to me, they bid me take my place among them, In the halls of Valhalla, where the brave may live...

I was thinking Johnny Depp, until I heard cChristopher Walken's name. He'd be perfect.
