wallace and gromit movie-what's the status?

i remember a wallace and gromit movie being announced quite some time ago. imdb says its coming out in 2005 and that its called "wallace and gromit and the great vegetable plot" or something like that. are they still working on the tortoise and hare movie? i'm really itching to see what nick park does with this full length movie.

The Tortoise and the Hare has been pushed back to 2006 at the earliest, so they brought the Wallace and Gromit movie forward to 2005. Full production (i.e. animating) will begin in October. Apart from that, very little is known.

I'm VERY excited about this project. I loved Chicken Run and all the Wallace and Gromit shorts that preceded it. I can't wait!

From today's IMDb Studio Briefing:

Oscar-nominated stars Helena Bonham-Carter and Ralph Fiennes will lend their voices to the first ever feature length Wallace And Gromit movie. The project, titled Curse Of The Wererabbit, will begin shooting in Bristol, England this week at Aardman Animations's studio. The movie sees the studio's popular characters Wallace and Gromit hunt down the mysterious beast which has been rampaging their village's prize marrows and potatoes just days before the giant vegetable growing contest. Helena will voice new character Lady Tottington, and Ralph will provide the sound for Lord Victor Quatermaine. Curse of the Wererabbit - with a budget in excess of $80 million - will take 18 months to make and is expected to be released in 2005.

$80 million for claymation...WOW. Surely to be great, but still that's alot. Where does the money go? What eats that big a budget? I've got kids and playdough isn't that expensive

D

Heck, I reckon you wouldn't even be human beings if you didn't have some pretty strong personal feelings about nuclear combat.

There is also a bit of info on the bbc site about it. There is also a link to a wallace and grommit short film (a few minutes) there as well.

If only there was a Wallace and Grommit remake of The Third Man...

Seriously though, can't wait. I have no doubt that Park can make Wallace and Grommit have fun on the big screen for 90+ minutes.

Luckily, right at that moment, an unconscious Argentinean fell through my roof.

He was quickly joined by a dwarf dressed as a nun.
