Neon Genesis Evagelion film ( real film )

Ain't it cool has a article up on a live action film of Neon Genesis Evagelion!
There are some pre viz pix.
I never saw the series, but thought about buying it! ( it just too expensive for me )
Weta is apparently handling the effects, should be cool.

Uhhh... the DVD set from ADV is available for about $100USD from most online retailers.

What do you mean by "real film"? End of Evangelion was a "real film" in the sense that it was released in theatres and is the full-length conclusion to the series.

Slightly off-topic... I will never understand this new facination with live-action anime/cartoons... seems like a waste of time to me. Eva came out in 1995 in Japan... been there, done that, bought the shirt! Can't we come up with a new ideas instead of milking old ones!?

That said, I will be there on opening day

Don't you know? There aren't any new ideas.

While this still looks like an attempt by GAINAX to milk the franchise some more, it will be interesting to see WETA's work on it.

I meant live action film, not animated....
I know that End of Evangelion was at the cinema...

I'm interested, but it'll probably suck.

How would they do most of it? I mean, they have about 15 hours worth of material (OK, it's probably more around 12 or 13) that they're going to condense into 1 movie?
