Halle Berry as Catwoman?
Cinescape has reported that Halle Berry is closing in on the role of Catwoman in a feature film. It seems both Ashley Judd and Nicole Kidman have dropped out of the running.

That just cemented it. Not going to see Catgirl.
Maybe with a better actress.

Assuming there's no Batman, I wonder what the story is.

Apart from the fact that I couldn't stand her acting in X-Men and Die Another Day--two movies in a similar genre to Catwoman--nothing.

She can act, but she's not an action star. She was really bad in DAD. I hope this is not true. What happened to Ashley Judd?

Another movie and a play. It happens when projects like this get drawn out.
I'm sort of confused by how long this project has stuck around - despite the name, it's got only the most tenuous connection to the DC Comics characters, the role's been a revolving door, and it's not like Superman where Warner has apparently invested enough that they have to get some sort of return. And it can't be such a really fantastic script, can it?

She's not the first woman of color to play Catwoman. Eartha Kitt played her as well.

I have no problen with Hallie Berry playing Catwoman. I do have a problem with the whole Catwoman movie. With all of the great characters in the DC universe. Why do a movie about a criminal. I mean Catwoman without Batman. Is like having an Abbott & Costello movie without one of them. It just doesn't work. One of the things that makes Catwoman work is her relationship with Bats/Bruce Wayne.

Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.

She went on the Tonight Show during the X-Men production, during the publicity round she did following her Dorthy Dandridge(sp?) successes. One of Jay's questions to her was about the state of Hollywood as it related to roles for actresses, and in particular actresses of color.
Her response was 'Jay, things are so bad in Hollywood now I've been reduced to acting in a comic book movie.'
I will never have use for her after a comment like that. And haven't despite her unwelcome appearances in two movies I've liked over the last several years, Swordfish and Die Another Day (and X-Men I & II of course).
Don't like the role? Don't sign the contract, don't cash the check, don't take up a spot for an appreciative actress the fans might really enjoy. I still get wistful thinking of how cool it could have been for Angela Bassett to be Storm. Mmmmmmmmmm, yeah.

Well, it can, with the right story. Ed Brubaker & Darwyn Cooke reinvented the character in the "Catwoman" comics, and it's one of the best things DC puts out right now (at least the best in the Bat-line).
But, that's pretty much irrelevent, since the character in this movie isn't Selina Kyle, and it has only the vaguest connection to the DC Comics character. It's just a recognizable name that AOL Time Warner owns.

I'm a big fan of Angela Basset, but I doubt she'd have gotten any more lines or screen time as Storm than the pitiful allotment given to Berry. If anything, Berry's probably the best hope for an expansion of Storm's role in the sequel because, like it or not, she's now an international star.
I have my own selfish reasons for not being thrilled at this turn of events. Berry's best work has always been as a dramatic actress portraying life-size characters; those are the movies I want to see her make more of, and I'm glad to see that she has a couple of projects in pre-production that sound promising (one of them being The Set-Up, written and directed by Sidney Lumet).
