gonna be hard to beat Hoffman

Ecch, we certainly differ there. I thought casting Hoffman was the single biggest mistake Spielberg made with "Hook," with the possible exception of Lost Boys' costumes. Hoffman wasn't even remotely menacing, and he was just simply too short for the role. I did not care for his interpretation of the character at all.

I thought Julia Roberts was WONDERFUL as Tinkerbell, and I liked Robin Williams as Pan. But the first time I saw it, I thought, "Robert DeNiro should have played Hook."

This Pan is NOT your Mothers Peter Pan... that is for sure...

We were treated to 10 minutes of this wonderful faithful adaptation back in March at Showest in Vegas.

The trailers should hit the screen in the next couple of weeks (it is shipping with The Hulk). Let me say that it is awesome.

Question is will it freak kids the way Return To Oz did?

I'll go see it but i'm not optimistic about enjoying it. Hard to imagine anything being better than the disney animated version.

They have an actual boy playing Pan? IMHO, that's most of what previous versions needed right there.

Really? I find the animated film to be a horrible representation of the book...the Disney craptastic animated movie is nothin like the book...this new one looks to be just the book on screen!

The Disney version is not blasphemy, as it is based on JM Barrie's toned-down play that is intended for children

However this film shines with promise of being the first REAL Pan to hit the screen. After the teaser I was all a-tingle with the promise it showed. Sure the trailer was aired at kids, but THIS IS THE PAN I WOULD MAKE!

What a present I think we'll be opening come Christmas Day

Is there a version of PETER PAN that isn't meant for children? I've have looked over an online version of this story and it certainly looks like it was written for children. As for this film being the first "real" Peter Pan film....not likely. The Disney film is still the first "real" adaptation of this material for the movies. I looked at the trailer and this adaptation of PETER PAN does look interesting; although, this adaptation seems to drain any wonderment out of the material and replaces it with a look that appears to be out of the mind of a depressive personality. Certain sections of the trailer also look like they were copied from the Disney version almost verbatim for looks and setup. In fact, the trailer left me wondering if Disney had decided to do a live action remake of their animated film; however, it is a different studio doing the film. I wonder if Disney could sue for being 'ripped off' and not being given credit.
