FLATLITE-The world’s widest, thinnest, longest light bulb: Anyone know this product?

Hi All,

The owners of our building downtown Vancouver renovated the board room in our building and integrated this product, FLATLITE into the design.

I am looking to design my home theatre soon and thought this product is absolutely awesome. It is a ribbon/ tape lighting and is distributed and installed by a company called Nu World Distribution in Vancouver, my question is has anyone had any experience installing this and what are your thoughts.
It seems perfect for what I want to do, they have even sandwiched it between two pieces of glass in the bar area.

The rep sent me a pdf of the install see the images below.

I have contacted the company and they are sending a sales guy out today, just wondering if anyone has experience with this?

Thnks

Be sure to find out how long the stuff will last - ask for the time it takes for the brightness to drop to 1/2 the original brightness.

Let us know more!

Just met with the rep, has unlimited color possibilties.

He said the lifespan is 20000 hours in regular architectural applications. But the light does not burnout only gets dimmer over the lifespan and maintains even light throughout. So if I use the room for 5 hours a day that works out to just under 11 years!!

Also does not give off heat so I think I will use it in my rack to illuminate the equipment.
I think I will duplicate the baseboard illumination in the images from previous post. Also underneath the seating.

Although it is not as bright as LED I prefer this as it does not affect you vision if you are looking directly at it ...very soft on the eyes almost relaxing.
He said he has control modules which work with CONTROL 4 which I will be installing in the room.

An added bonus is that the install team he uses is a company called Liquid Sound who specialise in High end Audio Visual I am contemplating getting the entire HT done by them.

If you are in Vancouver BC Has anyone used Liquid Sound before?

Can you reccomend any othe AV installers?

This sounds great for home theater applications. My only question is how much is it? Is it sold by the foot? How much for the lights and controller/switch?

Thanks!

I got a pricelist
1 inch wide aqua FLATLITE @ 13.95 per linear ft
power supply for up to 600 sq inches for $350
Pretty reasonable for what you are getting.

I will be using about 45 feet of product in various places.
I am going to run one strip on each shelf with the light shining down over the front of the equipment, the rack will have a glass front or be open so it will really highlight the equipment.

I will also integrate into the baseboards and underneath the seating.

I cant wait it is going to look awesome!!

They are going to send some pics of the same concept that they did on another project.and also images of a strip around the back of a Plasma with the light firing backwards creating a halo effect

I will post when I get them.

Cheers
