Speaker Placement

I am almost finished the construction of my HT and I wanted suggestions on placement of the front speakers and the subwoofers.

In the attached picture you can see I will be using Acoustically Transparent screen material (yes I can buy a regular screen later and put against the front wall, but I wanted to try this out first). The screen may run the width of the room, but the projected image will only be around 108" as I only have 12'1" throw distance from projector to screen.
  • I put the fronts 3' from the back wall so that nothing above 80hz reflects and the rule of fifths apply (speakers should be 1/5 of room dimension from each wall). Is this ok?
  • How high should the center channel be? Should the midrange line of with the midrange of the fronts
  • As far as subwoofer placement should I place one in seating area and crawl around until I hear max volume, then place subwoofer #1 there, the repeat for second sub, having the first subwoofer going in its new location?

Re: Speaker Placement

- Looks OK. I would toe them in so that they point directly at the listener.
- All of the speakers should be the same height or as close as possible.
- That is one way to determine the best sub location. There are other theories but I haven't paid much attention. I like putting all of my subs in the front of the room and just overpowering the listener.
