This is formerly the DIY section and if you search the archives, all of the sub building projects are still here.

There is a port calculator at PSP Inc.. What is the subsonic filter on the Hypex set to? You want to tune 2 or 3 hz above that.

I'm in the middle of building a pair of sonosubs with the AV12MKII and a probably a sealed sub with the my AV12 MKI. I'm very familiar with these subs.

Robert_J: Thx for the info reg the tuning, didnīt know that...
It has a 12hz filter so tuning to 15hz seems good, but the port calc gives me a length of 48" and the a 16" diam sono with 3 cuft is only 33" long...

I completely missed the reply on this thread.

Just bend the port like this - link. If the names on that site appear familiar, Ron and Tom are members of this forum and decided to get together and form a little company called SVS.

Re: Sizing a sonotube for a Stryke AV12 MkI

There might not be enough room inside a 16" diameter tube to bend the ports around...

When you subtract the volume of the speaker and the volume of the port tube from the total volume of the sonotube enclosure, you might find that the sonotube will be longer than 33 inches. In other words, you need 3 cu ft plus speaker volume, plus port volume inside the main sonotube.

If not, and you don't mind the look, let your port tube stick out of the sonotube. It'll look like a stove pipe on top of a round stove.

If that looks silly, then extend the outer sonotube so that the port tube is hidden inside it, with a bulkhead inside the sonotube so that the speaker is in the correct volume of sonotube. Sort of tube-in-a-tube approach. A stuffed sonotube.
