Help with IR emitters / rounded Tivo box IR reciever

Hello,

I have my HT equipment in a closet on the other side of the house, all controlled via IR emitters in the closet which pass through cat5 cabling to the IR eye on the TV. My Tivo box has a somewhat rounded IR "eye" on the box and my emitter doesn't seem to talk to it and when I push buttons on the remote, I get maybe 40% response from it.

I was looking at the IR blaster, but I'm wondering if there are some tricks someone knows about to get this working properly?

So far I tried putting a washer over the eye on the Tivo to create a gap between the emitter and the eye, but that didn't help much. Next step would be to open the Tivo box and see if there's a better way for me to marry the two.

I have another Tivo box with a smaller HD that I've tested the emitters with, so I know it's not the emitter or cabling.

Try an IR blaster instead. I use similar ones either wedged under the equipment or taped to the top. They work great with my DirecTivos.
