ROTFLMAO!!!
In one of the dorms rooms I inhabited during the early 80s, we carpeted everything. Walls, floor, and ceiling. It was really really quiet in there.
One little thing, though. You actually
don't want a totally acoustically dead room. Some of the suround feel and "staginess" comes from reflections from walls, floor, and ceiling. This is why the AVS forum mentioned does not recommend deadening the ceiling. You want the floor fairly dead, and the lower 1/3 of the walls fairly dead, but the rest fairly live.
