HDMI connection problem

Hi all,

I need your help to find out why my HDMI connection is not working.
I have Sony plasma and upconvert Sony DVD with HDMI input and HK AVR430 receiver.
Here are my current set up that won't work:
TV connect to DVD using HDMI cable
DVD connect to Receiver for audio to optical digital input using Toslink cable.
The problem:
I have the sound but I did not get any picture on TV.
If I connect the TV to DVD using component cable (Monster Cable) then I got picture but it is only display 480p. Do you know why?

Please help me with this problem.
Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know what you mean.
My TV only have 1 HDMI connection and it is on video 6 channel.
When I select video 1 through video 6, I did not get any picture but I can hear the sound.
Any idea?

Okay, is your dvd player set to use HDMI in it's settings. You have to make sure you go into the menu of the TV as well as the dvd player to make sure you've set-up the devices for HDMI capability. If the dvd player is set-up for 480p then you have to set it for 720p so the image will show on your display.Sometimes this isn't an issue, sometimes it is.

Re: HDMI connection problem

I checked DVD setting and its HDMI setting is set to auto. I did not see any TV setting for HDMI except it default to video 6 channel.
Ugh...it work before (HDMI light on dvd was on) and after I change my TV stand now it is not working. I don't know why, very strange.
