best cable to run in crawlspace
I would like to hide all cabling behind walls and thru crawlspace for a new tv I mounted to the wall. I'd like to put my components (cable box, tivo, dvd player) in my laundry room on a shelf and run one wire if possible from this set of devices thru crawlspace (or I guess out the wall and around and back in if appropriate) to the tv in the living room.
I had an electrician come out and he talked about what he would do...but never called me back. I tried several times to get him but he won't return my calls. I'd like to take a whack at doing it myself. He made it sound like he was going to run some kind of bulk cable that had cable in it and cat5 all bundled .... and then there would be termination boxes on the walls in both places.
I sort of understand it .. I know how to terminate regular tv cable and I've used a crimp too for rj11 and rj45 terminations..and I've used a punch down device for terminated phone lines in a wall punchdown jack. but I don't really know which cables I'd use for what .. and how to terminate what....would I use the cat5 to terminate rca ends ???
Sorry this is such a confusing thread...I'll get smarter along the way.
Thanks for any help!!
