Ventilating the Home Theater

First post and hoping for some help. I am planning a basement HT in a dedicated room 15x25x9 at the back end of the basement. Once we wall this room off, we believe that we will have to adequately ventilate it. The tower will be stored in another room and we will be using a projector. The basement stays cool for most of the year but we believe that it will heat up with 4-8 people in the room and the heat from the projector. I thought a ductless mini-split system could be the way to go at around $2,500. Has anyone used this? We had a heat and a/c professional come in and he believed it would be better if we got a ducted a/c heating unit for $8,000.

We are building the room out now and it is framed on the two 15 foot sides and the 25 foot back side. (we haven't framed the 25 foot side that walls off the room from the rest of the basement). After getting an A/V guy for the initial plan, we want to figure the ventilation, electrical, and sheetrock in that order. Financially, we will have to wait until next year to get the HT up and running but we are building it out now.

This website has been great in terms of ideas. Any ideas, especially regarding a/c ventilation will be appreciated. Thanks , DBoston

Re: Ventilating the Home Theater

Hi Dennis. Your issue may be a little advanced for the Basic fourm. I'm going to move your post to the "Interiors" fourm where people with dedicated HT rooms hang out.

Enjoy your stay!
