new home, game room suggestions

I have a new home being built and I have a room picked out. I made an outlet on my tv wall a dedicated circuit and upgraded it to 20A service. We play a majority of Xbox 360 with movies a second. We currently have a 42" Westy 1080p, but are considering a projector in the future. What kind of suggestions do you have on placement of speakers/tv/screen etc. I run a pioneer 1014tx, paradigm monitor 5, paradigm cc350 center, paradigm adp 100 rears.

Re: new home, game room suggestions

From an acoustic standpoint, your display should go on the short wall. Your seating should be 2/3 back from the short wall.

I would have suggested another dedicated circuit for the subwoofer. A HT would not be complete without one and they are subject to ground loops and they require an inordinate amount of power.

Hard to tell what is 24' and what is 20' due to the bump out by the stairs.

I hope this helps. Acoustics are important and if you are starting from scratch, I suggest a little research. Do a search on Dr. Toole - white papers. He is not the only source but his presentation is easier to understand without all the math\physics. You will be investing a great deal of money, might as well do it right the first time. Once you get the audio vidoe bug, you will be compelled to upgrade.
