Panasonic w HDMI channel lag problem

Hello,
I just bought my Panasonic TH-42PX600U and am hooked up with a Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR with an HDMI connection.

The HDMI connection appears to be slower when moving up and down the channels, especially when moving from a SD to an HDTV station. The screen goes blank and the HDMI 1 tag appears temporarily from the menu screen.

When I connect via component cables the lag time does not seem to happen.

Anyone else have this problem? Is there a remedy to eliminate the delay?

I have been testing both the component and HDMI connections and both seem to be similar as far as picture quality...Your thoughts?

Thanks.

Re: Panasonic w HDMI channel lag problem

The delay you are seeing is the probably the result of the HDCP authentication (over HDMI) and there is nothing you can do about it.

There is no HDCP with Component so you will not have any delay when switching channels.

If your TV input accepts and your output device allows 1080i over Component then you 'should probably not' see any picture quality diffence between HDMI and Component. The HDMI is a strictly digital connection and 'should be' better than analog Component, however, in real world you probably cannot see the difference.
