I used the pink fiberglass soundproof batting behind all the drywall and in the ceiling too. It's fairly inexpensive and you can pick it up at Home Depot. You have to be sure to insulate evenly all around the room. If you skip one side or the ceiling then you are defeating the whole purpose. My room is about the same size and it is like a vault. Even with the volume cranked up, you can barely hear it upstairs.

I cranked up the volume loud enough to have a dance party, closed the doors and came up to the main floor. I was amazed! Sounded like the neighbours were having a party with music heard in the background.

Harman Kardon 335 7.1ch receiver, Polk Audio RTi10 speakers, CSi5 center, RC615i surrounds, Velodyne DPS-12 Sub, Monster 400, THX cables

Re: my home theatre project

It's made by Owens Corning (With the Pink panther logo.) available at Home Depot. Here's a link to their noise control products...

I used the quiet zone acoustic bats and the Acoustic floor mats.
