I am glad someone has finally commented on it, I believe you are the first to do so. It took a long time for me to find that picture as well, search results were a chore to look through.

Is that price for all six or just one?

Re: my small buget home theatre setup (lots of pics)

I would be careful about placing your components on top of the TV cabinet. If it bows it could distort the screen. I built a shelf to place on top of my 65" Mits RPTV out of 3/4" plywood, some slotted angle iron and 2x4's.
The plywood is cut to the same dimensions as the top of the TV cabinet. The length of the 2x4's is the same as the depth as the plywood.
The 2x4's are attached to each end of the plywood, sitting up on the 2" part, so the shelf is essentially 4" high (plus thickness of plywood).
This way, the 2x4's transmit the entire load out on the vertical sides of the TV cabinet, the part that is capable of taking the load.
The angle iron is attached down the length of the plywood, front and back, and keeps it from bowing.

I painted it black, but it is still not too attractive. Fortunately, my components are behind a red satin curtain, so you can't see them anyway. Yes, the IR signal does get through the curtains (we tested a small piece before my wife made the entire set to hide everything on that wall but the TV).

Re: my small buget home theatre setup (lots of pics)

I looked at the Pyramid subs. The Behringer will easily drive them past xmax in all but the smallest enclosure. What type/size enclosure are you going to put them in?

I'm using the same amp to drive a pair of Cerwin Vega V-Max 15's (the older model with the pink foam surround) in 3.5 cf, sealed enclosures. With the subs wired to give the amp a 4 ohm load and driving both subs with one channel, I can easily get reference bass. I finally turned it up loud enough to light up the amp's clip meter. It was the Darla, fish tank tap from Finding Nemo. I found out that my walls make a squeaking noise when they flex.

Pair that amp up with some sub drivers that will give you a world class bass system. You are half-way there. I'm looking at a pair of TC 3000s in 6 cf tuned to 17 hz.

Re: my small buget home theatre setup (lots of pics)

There are two ways of deciding which speakers to place in front, and which to stick in the rear.

One is to compare the tonal quality of each to the centre speaker. Pick the combination that's most even, and stick the remaining pair in the rear.

The other is to put your favorite speakers in front, and plan on getting a better matching centre speaker later on.

Strictly speaking, I'm using the latter strategy. A perfect timbre match is a tad beyond my reach right now.

A side note: most speakers are unpowered. If a passive speaker is "rated" at 125 W, it means that pumping 200W of power (however "clean") will probably end up burning out something-- the crossover, the tweeter, the fuse.

On the other hand, if a speaker is underpowered, but high volumes are still desired, the amplifier may clip, sending DC current into the speaker, which will probably blow the speaker.

Sony likes to be very optimistic about how many watts its receivers can pump out.
