In the house we are renovating due to the storm, we are pre-wiring for lcds or plasmas in both the master bedroom and the media room. Both of these rooms have 8' ceilings and we mounted the prewire boxes just under the 16" mark. So my question is: what is a good average height for these types of displays?

The b/r will likely see a display in the 30" plus range and the media room in the 42-60" range...b/r viewing distance is apx 12' and the media room is apx 14-16'


Also, we are pre-installing cross member studs between the up-rights for anchoring these displays to the wall.

A display should be at eye height, or slightly lower. However, in the bedroom, if the viewing will be from a bed, you’ll want it higher than in the living room. Exactly where depends on your bed, whether you’ll be sitting up in it or lying back. Ultimately, the correct position would be one where the eyes look straight ahead, or slightly downward, not upwards (which gets uncomfortable after a while).

Likewise, if you’re using a recliner in your living room, you’ll want to raise the display.
