I need one for HD OTA reception since my old indoor is iffy these days. I presently am with Dish with 2 HD receivers, the 811 and a 942 both of which I'd like to stick in their individual OTA source. I tried the Terk clip-ons which gave me worse reception than my old rabbit ears. An outdoor one to be mounted with the Dish sat on the roof would be my best bet. There, I can easily combine the sat and OTA cables with a diplexer and split them out to the receivers inside. A medium sized one would be best preferably not bigger than the Sat dish as well as costing below $100....
oh BTW, I'm needing antennas in the "yellow" range.

Did you try www.antennaweb.org for starters? Once you get past that point you can go to the manuf. sites like Channel Master or Winegard and the various others.

I'm using a Channel Master CM4221A and it works great for me.

I'm using a DB4, in the attic, from Antennas Direct with a Dish 811 and have been very happy.

Wow that DB4 is three times the price of the CM4221A from Warren Electronics and it looks to be the same size.

Looks to be true Philip. To be honest, by the time I got to the antenna purchase I had dropped thousands of dollars into the HT, I knew from neighbors/forums that they had good luck with the DB4, and the distributor was local (no shipping cost or wait time!). The extra $20 wasn’t a deal breaker. I just wanted my HDTV!!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I went over to Antennaweb.org again and found some of my channels r in VHF, analog & digital. My question is will the Channel Master CM4221A do for me?

The Channel Master CM4221A will not pick up VHF or FM. You need a combo antenna. Are you sure that your local DIGITAL stations are broadcasting in VHF? That's very unusual. Or are you looking to pick up analog OTA signals also?

I went with a Channel Master CM4221A from Warren Electronics a couple years ago when I bought an Infocus X1 projector. I wanted just the local digital signals. I got such great reception that I decided to ditch the second Dish Network receiver I was using for the basement and guest bedroom and run just OTA for analog locals instead of paying for almost never used dish in those places.

I went back to Warren Electronics and got an Antennacraft CS600 VHF/FM antenna in their closeout section. I also got a UHF/VHF joiner there, and a powered distribution system so I can send the signal all over the house. Instead of on top of the house, I've got my antennas in my attic so no messing with going on the roof and no unsightly antenna on top of the house. The reception on everything is great, the only thing that comes in poorly is my local MHz station, which I don't really care about.

Whether an attic install will work for you I can't tell. All I can say is that it works sensational for me. I use the antenna for TV all over the house in both analog and digital (I have a digital receiver for an analog TV, which gives me a picture dramatically better than direct analog signal and gives me DD5.1 to boot!) and for FM radio reception.

Actually digital TV stations broadcasting on VHF are not as scarce as one might think:

http://www.antennasdirect.com/vhf_hdtv_stations.html

I believe (could be wrong) the below list is about 6% (give or take a little) of the total of digital TV stations.

"Since most of our UHF antennas will capture high frequency VHF signals (Channels 7-13), we typically only recommend using VHF antennas to capture the low end of the VHF band (Channels 2-6). Occasionally, a VHF capable antenna may also be required on channels 7 and 8. For your convenience we have highlighted these 34 channels (channels 2-8) in red in the following list of all of the VHF Digital Stations.
